Final Verdict: DJ Yesong Sentenced to 8 Years in Prison for Fatal DUI Upheld by Supreme Court

8 Years in Prison for DJ Yesong
DJ Yesong , whose real name is Ahn Ye Song , was sentenced to eight years in prison for causing a fatal accident while drunk. On December 10, the Supreme Court upheld her sentence, deeming it in line with the law on serious crimes.
In February, DJ Yesong had a blood alcohol level of 0.221% when she collided with a motorcyclist in Seoul's Gangnam district, killing a 50-year-old delivery man. It was revealed that she caused the accident while trying to flee after being involved in a previous collision.
At the first trial, she was sentenced to 10 years in prison for leaving the scene without helping the victim and attempting to escape. Both DJ Yesong and the prosecution appealed the decision. During the second trial, her sentence was reduced to eight years after she admitted guilt and reached an out-of-court settlement with the victim's family. Despite a further appeal, the Supreme Court dismissed her case, upholding the eight-year prison sentence.
