On December 11, SM Entertainment clarified the situation, stating, "The person who released the photos appears to have initially attempted to contact a media outlet for profit, seeking to communicate with us directly. However, when the media outlet refused to facilitate this exchange, citing their policy against monetary tips, the individual appears to have opted for malicious release."

ENHYPEN's agency Belift Lab also stated, "The dating rumors are not true." Both agencies stressed their intention to take strict measures against the creation and spread of false rumors.
