Kpop Industry Emergency: Major Crisis Following Event Cancellations After Martial Law Introduced in South Korea
Chaos in South Korean Entertainment
South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol declared martial law late in the afternoon on December 3, leading to a wave of festival and event cancellations across the country.
There are growing concerns in the entertainment industry about year-end concerts and other scheduled events. Some are already calling this the worst crisis the industry has faced as the end of the year and New Year approach.
According to reports from December 3, major entertainment agencies began notifying their artists not to participate in events scheduled from December 4 onward. The emergency notifications cited difficulties in organizing regional festivals and events under martial law. A key industry figure confirmed the cancellation of these programs, stating: "Holding an event under these circumstances could lead to unforeseen problems."
Major entertainment agencies are on high alert and maintaining emergency operations as they closely watch the current situation.
