One of Japan's largest telecommunications companies, NTT Docomo , is boldly entering the entertainment industry by launching a girl group inspired by the South Korean K-pop model.

Under the umbrella of NTT Docomo Studio & Live , in collaboration with Yoshimoto Kogyo Co. , the group, named Cosmosy , will debut with a single on December 31.

Cosmosy is composed of four Japanese members: a'mei , de_hana , himesha , and kamión . The group's name symbolizes " the possibilities of youth ", " the infinite cosmos ", and " growth and conflict ", encapsulating the concept of the COSMOS of youth .

A teaser for the group has been revealed, featuring visuals reminiscent of manga covers and live-action movie characters to establish their universe. The video ends with a scene giving off a " post-apocalyptic atmosphere " and displays the words, The End of the World - D-29 .

The project features several renowned K-pop creators, including the creative director behind BLACKPINK's debut , and who contributed to the hits of LE SSERAFIM , Red Velvet , IVE , IU , aespa , and TXT .

A spokesperson for NTT Docomo Studio & Live's music IP division said, " We collaborate with creators who have introduced iconic K-pop artists and works to the world. With Cosmosy, our first global girl group, we hope to showcase new growth potential in the global market. We invite you to follow their journey ."

The girl group's launch approach is compared to that of XG , another all-Japanese group based on the K-pop model. XG achieved significant success after being produced using the K-pop training and marketing system, highlighting the potential for Japanese companies to adopt this model for their own groups.
