KBS a formulé une nouvelle fois des excuses concernant la polémique sur les dommages infligés à Byeongsan Seowon, un site du patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO, lors du tournage de leur nouveau drame, 'La Première Nuit avec le Duc'.

On January 3, KBS stated: "We deeply apologize for the damage caused to the cultural property during filming at Byeongsan Seowon in Andong, North Gyeongsang Province."

Le responsable du centre de drame et le producteur concerné se sont rendus à Byeongsan Seowon pour évaluer la situation. Ils ont confirmé que de nouveaux clous avaient été ajoutés à environ 10 marques de clous existantes, augmentant la pression sur la structure.

KBS a expliqué : "Des clous ont été placés à environ dix endroits, y compris huit extrémités de poutre au pavillon Mandaeru et deux aux extrémités de poutre de la salle Dongjae." Ils ont également précisé : "Ces emplacements ne correspondent pas aux marques de clous sur les colonnes de Mandaeru rapportées par certains médias." KBS a reconnu le problème, affirmant : "Même si des trous de clous préexistants étaient présents, enfoncer de nouveaux clous et ajouter de la pression constitue un dommage au bien culturel. Nous nous en excusons sincèrement."

However, they added: "Before filming, the production team had received approval from the Byeongsan Seowon caretaker regarding where props could be hung. The shoot took place under the caretaker's supervision."

They pledged full cooperation with the investigation, stating: "We will humbly accept the results of the police investigation and the inspections conducted by the city of Andong and the National Heritage Administration. We will also actively cooperate in restoring the damaged areas."

KBS also outlined future measures, stating: "We will educate external drama production teams about the invaluable heritage of Byeongsan Seowon, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and strengthen our oversight and management." In addition, KBS announced plans to create a new set of guidelines, stating: "The guidelines will include consulting cultural heritage experts or filming under expert supervision when shooting in cultural properties, historical sites, and heritage locations."

KBS concluded: "We sincerely apologize for causing significant concern and disappointment to the public due to the damage to the cultural property during the filming of the drama. We will fully cooperate with the investigations conducted by the relevant authorities."
