Squid Game 2 threatened with boycott in Vietnam over Vietnam War controversy
"Squid Game 2" Controversy in Vietnam
The second season of the Netflix series Squid Game 2 has taken the world by storm, ranking first in 93 countries—including the United States, Japan, and France—for five consecutive days. However, in Vietnam, the series is facing calls for a boycott and an official investigation by the Vietnamese Cinema Authority.
This remark sparked outrage among some Vietnamese viewers, who felt that portraying South Korean soldiers who participated in the Vietnam War as "honorable" was insensitive and inappropriate. The outrage quickly spread among Vietnamese users on social media, leading to calls for a boycott.
In response, the Vietnamese film authority has launched a review of Squid Game 2 and is expected to announce an official verdict soon.
