Former IZ*ONE member Lee Chae Yeon has become the subject of controversy after many netizens flooded her Instagram to criticize her stance on political issues.

On December 7, Lee Chae Yeon expressed her opinions on a hot political topic by stating, “ Am I not in a position to talk about politics? As a citizen and a member of the public, I will do what I deem appropriate. I will also decide what I want to talk about. I am a celebrity, that’s why I use my voice. ” She also acknowledged her fans’ concerns by adding, “ I know very well that people get worried when idols make such statements. But I am also a citizen. ”

Following her statement, Chung Yoo Ra , daughter of Choi Seo Won (formerly Choi Soon Sil , who was involved in the 2016 South Korean political scandal), publicly criticized Lee Chae Yeon regarding her comments on the controversy surrounding President Yoon Suk Yeol.

The incident led to a barrage of comments on Lee Chae Yeon's social media, with netizens criticizing the star for her recent political stance. They commented:

"What is your position on the issue of vote manipulation (election fraud) related to Lee Chaeyeon and IZ*ONE? Do you have any thoughts or perspectives on how this situation might develop in the future? These netizens rushed to Lee Chae Yeon's social media to ask sarcastic questions regarding the vote manipulation on the 'Produce 101' series, asking for her opinion on the corruption of the show. However, other Korean netizens defended Lee Chae Yeon and criticized those who invaded her social media.
