Sleepy accused of embezzlement: the legal repercussions that upset the rapper
Explosive Accusations Against Sleepy!
Rapper Sleepy, real name Kim Sung Won, 36, is currently in the spotlight not for his music but for legal charges. He is being charged with breach of contract by his former agency, TS Entertainment.
The case began when TS Entertainment filed a complaint on November 28 with Jungbu Police Station in Seoul, accusing Sleepy and two of his former managers of dereliction of duty. The case has since been transferred to Goyang Police Station, where Sleepy resides.
The dispute between Sleepy and TS Entertainment dates back to April 2019 when Sleepy filed a lawsuit to cancel his exclusive contract with the agency. Although his request for a preliminary injunction to suspend the validity of the contract was denied, the contract was eventually terminated after multiple trials.
Sleepy claimed that the agency failed to pay him various payments owed between November 2018 and August 2019. In response, TS Entertainment accused Sleepy of embezzlement. After several trial postponements and accusations from both sides about the conduct of the litigation, no settlement has been reached between the two parties.
Despite Sleepy's legal victories regarding the validity of his contract, TS Entertainment has maintained its accusations, stating that Sleepy deceived the agency and caused financial damage through undeclared advertisements and unauthorized events.
Sleepy, who has often spoken publicly about his financial struggles, has drawn both sympathy and criticism for TS Entertainment. He revealed that he was evicted and suffered power and water outages, exacerbating his financial difficulties.
In response to Sleepy's accusations about his struggles, TS Entertainment filed a defamation lawsuit against him in 2020. Sleepy continues to maintain his innocence and says that truth and justice will prevail.
The legal proceedings continue, as Sleepy tries to maintain his personal and professional life despite the ongoing accusations and legal challenges.
