Kpop: Controversy over Junsu's disrespectful comment, Korean Internet users react
Controversy over Junsu's remarks
After a recent controversy over his private life, Junsu finds himself at the center of discussions on several online forums, where his past comments are being questioned.
Netizens have recently revisited several incidents involving Junsu, including criticism over the disappearance of his pets and a controversial episode in which he allegedly threw a live frog down the toilet.
The current controversy revolves around a remark the singer made during a Weverse live stream last month, while celebrating the second anniversary of his fan club.
During the live session, Junsu shared anecdotes about his last concert with Jaejoong, and some comments were made following allegations that he was blackmailed by a streamer on AfreecaTV. Junsu said, "If I had to share anything, it would be that Jaejoong and I were singing yesterday and we realized that we were singing all the important parts of TVXQ's songs." He laughed before continuing, "I didn't think about it too much but while singing, I thought to myself 'was that your improvisation?' and he asked me 'was that your improvisation?' There were a lot of parts that we took turns singing. It was fun."
Netizens who rewatched the video deemed Junsu's remark to be disrespectful and in poor taste, noting that he was downplaying the roles of other members when the games were evenly distributed.
"Even Teen Top's Niel, who sings almost all the time, wouldn't say such a thing. Wasn't it Yunho, the main dancer, and Changmin, the high-note specialist, who carried TVXQ at SM? The previous comments even show that they divided the parts almost equally."
"Weren't they originally the lead singers? In a band, each member has their role."
"It's disrespectful... Even if things ended badly, it doesn't take into account the other members."
"It's really disappointing... I previously thought the artist wasn't at fault, but this really proves that the fans reflect the artist."
"With that kind of mentality, no wonder their song list is like that."
"So TVXQ fans and the group had to live all these years seeing their oppa act like this??? This is insane…"
"That's pathetic, lol. Acting like that makes you look insecure."
“Why don’t you sing ‘Silk Road,’ the song you sang alone?”
"Rude."
"Seriously, he keeps talking about TVXQ like it's on repeat; and it's not even in a positive light. Seeing a 38-year-old man say things like that is just embarrassing."
"It's true that he's being rude to the two members who kept TVXQ's name alive. If he left with all that noise, dropping TVXQ's title, he should just stay quiet. Meanwhile, Changmin and Yunho, who were actually involved, worked hard for 15 years without saying a word. Who's really causing trouble here? lol"
“Just sing your JYJ songs, lol. Don’t you have to pay to sing TVXQ songs anyway?”
"So rude; I didn't realize he was so shallow, but I've learned a lot now."
"He left such an important position just because he didn't like it. For 15 years, he only sang 'Silk Road,' where does he get the nerve to speak like that? It's a miracle he didn't succumb to jealousy when TVXQ arrived at Nissan Stadium."
"To see someone his age speaking so thoughtlessly is just pitiful."
"How rude; SM should take legal action."
"What's his problem, seriously;;;; This is so embarrassing."
