Worst K-Dramas of 2024: Queen Woo Voted Worst Drama by Industry Experts
The Worst K-Dramas of 2024
In the cutthroat world of K-dramas, some titles failed to impress this year. The specialized magazine JoyNews24 recently conducted a survey of 200 industry professionals to elect the least appreciated productions of 2024.
So here is the list of K-Dramas that were not unanimously popular:
Queen Woo
Queen Woo , despite a hefty budget of 30 billion KRW (21.4 million USD) and a promising plot centered on political intrigues in the Goguryeo era, was named the worst drama of the year. The explicit content and historical distortions were widely criticized, as well as the controversial use of female bodies for aesthetic purposes, which disappointed a large number of viewers.
The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection
Coming in second place, The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection failed to captivate the audience, despite its intense story of revenge and collaboration. The improbable twists and the lack of coherence in the narrative made the drama difficult to follow.
Beauty and Mr. Romantic
Beauty and Mr. Romantic , with 28 votes, came in third. This drama tells the tumultuous story of a renowned actress who is going through a difficult time. Viewers criticized the storyline for its absurdity and excessive developments that led to a loss of credibility and interest.
Other K-dramas that made it onto this unenviable list include tvN's Love Next Door and Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 as well as Netflix's Sweet Home Season 3 , not to mention Disney+'s Red Swan and KBS's Korea–Khitan War .
This selection, while unflattering, highlights the challenges K-drama creators face in satisfying an increasingly demanding and diverse audience.
