Korean Netizens Shocked by Disturbing Details of Former NCT Member Taeil's Sexual Assault Case
Shock in Korea: Sexual Assault Case of Ex-NCT Member
On October 7, it was confirmed that former NCT member Moon Taeil is under investigation by police for a serious charge of aggravated rape following allegations of sexual assault. Authorities questioned Taeil and transferred him to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office last month, though he has not yet been summoned for further questioning.
The complaints filed in June against Taeil describe an assault on a drunk woman, also involving two of his acquaintances, who are not public figures. The term “aggravated rape” refers to an assault on a person who is unable to resist, committed either by an armed individual or by several people acting together. If convicted, Taeil could face a prison sentence of seven years to life, according to Article 4, paragraph 1, of the Law on Special Cases of Punishment for Sexual Crimes.
Korean netizens have been quick to react, expressing shock and outrage at the revealed details. Comments range from disbelief to anger, harshly criticizing Taeil's action and the tarnished reputation he has brought to NCT. Many are questioning the morality of male idols and the impact such news has on the Korean entertainment industry.
Terms like "aggravated rape" and "disgusting" are frequently mentioned, emphasizing the seriousness of the accusation. Some commentators go so far as to question loyalty to male idols, suggesting a reevaluation of who deserves their support.
