SEVENTEEN's Seungkwan Defends Idols: A Call for Kindness in the K-pop Industry
Seungkwan's Call: Let's Respect Idols
SEVENTEEN member Seungkwan recently shared a heartfelt message on his Instagram, responding to HYBE's internal criticism of other agencies such as SM, JYP, and YG.
On October 29, Seungkwan posted an open letter, discussing an exchange with NMIXX's Haewon, which seems to show solidarity between artists in the face of the current situation in the idol industry.
In his message, Seungkwan stated, “I can’t stand seeing us hurt each other anymore. I tried to tolerate it in silence, hoping it would pass, but I can’t stay silent anymore. My fans, members, and fellow artists are working tirelessly, and I can’t just sit back and watch them get hurt,” he expressed.
He added, “Being an idol shouldn’t be something I have to endure. I just want to give my best and share positive energy with my fans in any way I can.” Seungkwan also emphasized, “Please don’t underestimate idols. We’re not objects that you can use however you want. We fight for every moment on stage, and it affects us deeply.”
He continued, expressing hope that everyone in the industry could show more kindness and warmth: “If we could all be a little warmer, I think things could improve. I hate to see others break down and give up. Let’s stop causing pain that we can’t take responsibility for. That’s my sincere hope.”
Seungkwan concluded with gratitude to his fans, saying, “Thank you and I love you. I just want everyone to stay healthy and happy.”
