Chef Kang Seung Won, better known as Triple Star from his appearance on Netflix’s Culinary Class Wars , is facing some troubling new charges. Unlike his previous personal misadventures, he is now facing embezzlement charges, which raises significant legal concerns.

On October 31, a post titled “ Triple Star Accused of Embezzlement of Corporate Funds, Request for Police Investigation ” was posted on a forum in the online community DC Inside. The author of the post, identified only by the letter “ A ,” said he had filed a complaint against Triple Star at the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul for alleged embezzlement. The complainant also shared screenshots of his official complaint filed via the South Korean government’s civil service portal.

Triple Star's troubles began when Lee Jin Ho, a former entertainment journalist turned YouTuber, posted a video on October 30, detailing accusations made by Triple Star's ex-wife, identified by the letter " B. " According to Lee, B allegedly discovered that Triple Star had transferred funds from the restaurant to her family, which ultimately led to their divorce.

In his message, A pointed out that if these allegations are true, Triple Star’s actions could constitute embezzlement under Article 356 of the Penal Code. A claimed that the transfer of public funds to his family indicates an intention of “illegal gain” on Kang Seung Won’s part. Additionally, A pointed out that since Triple Star and B were in a de facto relationship, they are not considered legal parents. Therefore, the legal provision of “kinship immunity,” which exempts parents from criminal liability in cases of embezzlement, does not apply.

The allegations quickly spread through online communities, sparking further controversy and criticism towards Triple Star. Many speculate that the trust and reputation he has built through 'Culinary Class Wars' could suffer irreparable damage due to these accusations.

As of now, Triple Star has yet to issue an official statement regarding the allegations. If the embezzlement charges are proven, it could have a severe impact on his career in the broadcasting and culinary world.
