Gong Yoo Expresses His Sincere Thoughts on President Yoon Suk Yeol's Declaration of Martial Law
Gong Yoo's Reactions to Martial Law
Famous actor Gong Yoo recently expressed his feelings regarding the president's declaration of martial law.
On December 5, during a press interview at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, Gong Yoo opened up about his reactions to the unprecedented situation. The interview was originally scheduled to discuss the Netflix series 'Trunk.'
The day before, the scheduled interview with lead actress Seo Hyun Jin was canceled following President Yoon Suk Yeol's declaration of martial law on December 3.
A resolution to lift martial law was proposed and passed at a plenary session of the National Assembly attended by 190 lawmakers at 1 a.m. on December 4, and the declaration was officially lifted by the president at 4:27 a.m., disrupting Seo Hyun Jin's schedule nonetheless.
Gong Yoo shared his thoughts during the incident, saying, “On the morning of the 4th, I had other commitments, so I was at my desk. Suddenly, my colleagues from ‘Trunk’ started messaging me on KakaoTalk and the chat rooms were in chaos. That’s when I turned on the TV and watched the live broadcast.”
He added: "What I saw was unbelievable, like a scene from a movie. It was a situation I never imagined I would experience in my lifetime. Like everyone else, I spent the night anxious, awake, unable to sleep until martial law was lifted."
'Trunk,' released on Netflix on November 29, is a mystery drama centered around a secret wedding service and the strange relationship between two individuals whose lives are turned upside down by a trunk that appears floating on a lake.
