Triple Star scandal: 'Culinary Class Wars' chef absent from restaurant following shocking allegations
Triple Star Chef in Turmoil
Chef Kang Seung Won , better known as Triple Star and famous for Netflix's 'Culinary Class Wars', is currently absent from his fine dining restaurant, Trid . This absence comes amid controversies surrounding his personal life .
According to information gathered by Xports News on October 31, Chef Kang has not been present at his establishment for some time. The restaurant staff told the media that the chef was away on " scheduled engagements " and is expected to return around mid-November or December.
Before the scandal, Triple Star had a habit of greeting Trid's customers, even taking photos. Shortly before the scandal broke, visitors had shared photos with him, suggesting that his absence may be linked to the recent allegations rather than any personal scheduling conflicts.
In addition, Trid bookings do not appear to be affected. Bookings for December, which opened on November 1, as well as those for the Christmas festivities scheduled for November 13, are continuing as planned. Despite the ongoing scandal, November bookings were quickly sold out without any cancellations.
Triple Star, who rose to fame as one of the top three contestants on 'Culinary Class Wars,' is facing accusations from his ex-wife, nicknamed "A," and another person, "B." "A" claimed she helped Triple Star get a job at a famous restaurant by giving a luxury bag to certain acquaintances, and alleged that Triple Star subsequently put her in uncomfortable situations. She also released an apology letter allegedly written by Triple Star, expressing regret for his actions, as well as messages where he allegedly threatened to " rip her apart and kill her " and " stab her and kill her ."
Further allegations emerged, including accusations of embezzling funds from her restaurant and that A had single-handedly made a KRW 3.7 billion (approximately USD 2.7 million) deposit in preparation for their wedding.
Triple Star is scheduled to participate in a culinary event in Seoul on November 3. Initially, the Seoul City Council announced that the event would go ahead as planned despite public complaints filed via the online portal e-People. However, as the controversy deepened, they later clarified that his participation was under review.
Netflix commented that they are " unable to verify or provide statements regarding media reports about cast members' personal affairs. " Meanwhile, Triple Star has yet to officially respond and has disabled comments on its restaurant and personal social media accounts.
