TVXQ and JX in simultaneous concert in Japan: Internet users react to this unexpected and controversial coincidence
TVXQ and JX Date Conflict in Japan
An unprecedented situation is looming with groups TVXQ and JX (composed of Jaejoong and Xia) planning to hold their concerts in Japan on the same dates in December.
TVXQ is celebrating the 20th anniversary of their Japanese debut with their ' 20th Anniversary Live Tour ~ZONE~ ', which will stop at Hiroshima Green Arena on December 14 and 15.
Meanwhile, JX will hold their joint concert ' IDENTITY ' at Saitama Belluna Dome on the same dates. JX is expected to perform a setlist similar to their 'IDENTITY' concert in Seoul, which included 18 songs from TVXQ, three solo songs from each member, and one song from JYJ .
Earlier this week, JX's Junsu was embroiled in a scandal with an AfreecaTV BJ who was accused of repeatedly blackmailing him since 2020, extorting a total of KRW 840 million for drug-related expenses.
On the other hand, TVXQ's Yunho was also at the center of controversy for violating social distancing rules in 2021, which resulted in him being fined and taking a short break from promotional activities.
Regarding the simultaneous TVXQ and JX concerts, Korean netizens expressed surprise and skepticism, with some wondering if this scheduling was intentional and questioning JX's choice of setlist, which was dominated by TVXQ songs.
"Is this on purpose..?"
"They're performing 18 TVXQ songs? While the real TVXQ is performing somewhere else on the same day?"
“This 18-song setlist seems like it was made for TVXQ, not JX.”
“Don’t they have their own songs to sing? Why do they sing more TVXQ songs than the real TVXQ?”
"This is the 'real TVXQ' and a 'TVXQ imposter' lol."
“It’s good to hold a 20th anniversary concert and look back on their career, but treating TVXQ as a historical group while the members are still active is a bit strange.”
"They only spent 6 years in TVXQ and have had 'successful' solo careers since then, right? So where are all those 'successful' solo songs?"
"One can't help but perceive JX's concert and setlist as a challenge to SM and the current members of TVXQ."
"They both have problematic members but they continue to promote themselves well..."
