Yoo Yeon Seok expresses his appreciation for the warm reception of the series 'When the Phone Rings' by fans around the world.

During an interview at King Kong by Starship's headquarters in Gangnam, Seoul, Yoo Yeon Seok shared his thoughts on the series finale. Speaking about his bedroom scene with Chae Soo Bin, he explained, “The couple had been emotionally distant for three years, and the threatening calls helped them rediscover their feelings. Their reunion marks what could be considered their true first night together. We wanted it to be captured beautifully, like the first night of a longtime couple.”

He added, “I put a lot of thought into this scene and worked closely with Soo Bin. On the day of filming, we discussed the tone we wanted to set, revised the storyboard, and even looked at other examples to make sure we were on the same page. Seeing the South American fans cheering as they watched the scene together made me think we nailed it.”

Regarding the actors' reaction to the finale, he humorously commented: "Their reactions were quite similar!"

Yoo Yeon Seok was once again dubbed the “Kiss Master” through this project. While blushing, he explained, “Each kiss in the drama came from a different emotional state—there was a reunion kiss, a kiss overcoming guilt, a joyful kiss, and a kiss of intense emotion after a proposal. I tried to express each of them in a unique way, which perhaps helped the viewers become more immersed.”

On fans' wishes for them to be a couple in real life, he said, "It's a compliment to our chemistry. It means people were invested in our characters' romance and relationship, and I'm very grateful for that."

Especially among international fans, comments like “Just get married!” poured in. Yoo responded, “Although our drama has thriller elements, it’s ultimately a love story. We hoped viewers would be drawn to Sa Eon and Hee Joo’s journey, and seeing these supportive comments makes me feel like we succeeded. But no, we’re not dating in real life!” he clarified with a laugh.
