Kim Kwang Soo Clarifies T-ara Harassment Incident: Hwayoung Victim or Culprit?
The Real Culprit?
On a recent MBN show called 'Let's GO,' entertainment industry icon Kim Kwang Soo spoke out about the scandal that once marred the boy group T-ara. He revealed never-before-seen details about how he dealt with accusations of harassment within the group.
Kim said, “The rumors surrounding T-ara were so infuriating that I made the decision to terminate Hwayoung and Hyoyoung ’s contracts on the spot, allowing them to freely pursue their careers. However, this only fueled the rumors of harassment online, which quickly grew out of proportion.”
He added, “The parents of the T-ara members demanded a press conference to clarify things with concrete evidence, such as text messages. However, revealing all of this could have destroyed the lives of these young women. So I decided to take responsibility for the consequences to protect their future.”
According to Kim, this case has seriously damaged T-ara's reputation, despite the members' lack of fault. He supported the group by continuing their activities and taking the public's criticism upon himself. He expresses poignant regret, recalling the times when the T-ara members would come to see him on his birthday, reminding him of the crisis they went through together.
The group T-ara, known for hits like "Lies," "Roly-Poly," and "Lovey-Dovey," saw their popularity plummet following the 2012 incident where Hwayoung was accused of being bullied by the other members, which was exacerbated by malicious interpretations of social media posts.
The full episode will air on November 9 on MBN, promising more details on this complex case that continues to generate mixed reactions among netizens.
Comments from Korean netizens reflect a variety of opinions, ranging from sympathy for the group's members to criticism of the agency's handling of the incident. Many point to the lingering ambiguity surrounding the actual events, noting that only those directly involved know the full truth.
