Se7en Denies G-Dragon's Claims About Dance Battle Against Rain and K-Pop Idols' First Lightstick
Contested Truths in K-pop
Singer Se7en recently disputed G-Dragon's claims about a past dance competition against Rain as well as the origin of K-pop fans' first light stick.
On November 6, Se7en shared a compilation video on his Instagram with the caption, "It seems our Ji Yong (G-Dragon's real name) made a mistake." This was in response to a video where G-Dragon claimed that Se7en lost a dance battle to Rain.
On a recent episode of "Zip Daesung," G-Dragon shared that Big Bang was the first to win a friendly dance competition between YG and JYP artists. According to Daesung, it all started with a competition between JYP's Rain and YG's Se7en, where G-Dragon said Se7en lost to Rain. G-Dragon also added that he and Taeyang were the first to win against JYP trainees, a group that included future 2PM members.
Additionally, Se7en disputed Big Bang's claim that their "Bang Bong" was the first fan light stick in K-pop. He claimed that his own light stick "7 Bong" appeared a few years before Big Bang's.
Se7en, who debuted in 2003 and married actress Lee Da Hae last May, also explained during an appearance on MBC FM4U that the creation of his "7 Bong" light stick was motivated by the lack of balloon colors available to his fans when he debuted. According to him, this made it the first fan-specific light stick in K-pop.
Meanwhile, G-Dragon, who recently released his new track "POWER," is planning to perform at the "2024 MAMA Awards" after a nine-year absence.
