CRAVITY Wins 'Road To Kingdom: Ace Of Ace': Netizens Accuse Mnet of Cheating
Is CRAVITY's victory rigged?
In the latest episode of 'Road To Kingdom: Ace Of Ace' aired on November 7, boy group CRAVITY claimed victory, proclaiming themselves the new ace of the next generation.
Five groups competed in the finals, including The Crew One (ATBO + Just B), ONEUS, YOUNITE, 8TURN, and CRAVITY. Each team put on an impressive show, but it was CRAVITY who was declared the winner, followed by ONEUS and 8TURN in second and third place, respectively.
However, following the announcement of the winners, some Korean netizens questioned the "reliability" of the show's results.
These netizens recalled Mnet and Starship Entertainment's history of behind-the-scenes manipulation, including rigging viewer votes and contestant rankings on 'Produce X 101,' where CRAVITY members Song Hyeong Jun and Kang Min Hee were included in the winning group X1.
During the criminal investigation into the vote-rigging incident, which resulted in the conviction of lead producers Ahn Joon Young and Kim Yong Bum for rigging all four seasons of the show 'Produce,' rumors also circulated that some entertainment agencies had bribed producers to favor their trainees. It was alleged that Starship Entertainment had paid bribes to have its trainees chosen for the winning team.
Now, with CRAVITY's victory in 'Road To Kingdom: Ace of Ace', the skeptical comments have not been long in coming:
"If they come from Starship, of course they will win, even without effort."
"So they really faked it from the start, putting them last at the beginning to alarm the fans and create buzz."
"Do they really think people will accept these results when we know what they did during 'Produce X 101'?"
"I can't decide who's stupider here, Mnet or Starship. It's a known fact that Starship pushed for their trainees during 'Produce X 101,' and they still have the nerve to stage this drama?"
The winner of 'Road To Kingdom: Ace Of Ace' will receive a prize of 100,000,000 KRW (~$72,000) as well as the opportunity to appear as a 'special lineup' artist for 'KCON 2025'.
