BLACKPINK Rosé Expresses Support for NewJeans Amid Tensions with HYBE
BLACKPINK's Rosé supports NewJeans!
Rosé, a member of the popular girl group BLACKPINK, was recently interviewed by iD magazine about various topics including her solo career, personal life, and her latest album. While in Los Angeles working on her music, Rosé shared her personal experiences and the challenges she faces.
“ I was moving from a hotel to an Airbnb, and it was really lonely. It’s funny how I chose to forget the negative moments—the many nights I cried myself to sleep. It’s like I’ve formed a toxic relationship with music, because I’m obsessed with it, and sometimes it doesn’t work out, but I need it in my life ,” she said.
Despite the loneliness, Rosé finds solace in the process of creating her album, which she describes as therapeutic: " The album process was very therapeutic, it was the only place where I felt sane. That's why I did it for a year. I felt like I was being held by my mother, or something ."
The interview also touched on a hot topic in the K-pop industry: NewJeans' recent revolt against HYBE. When asked about her thoughts on the situation, Rosé shook her head before replying, " I want to talk about positive things. I love those girls so much ."
The conflict between NewJeans and HYBE began in April, when HYBE launched an internal audit of ADOR, their subsidiary label previously run by Min Hee Jin. The audit alleged that Min Hee Jin was attempting to take full control of ADOR. This conflict continued until Min Hee Jin was officially removed as ADOR's CEO in August. In response, the members of NewJeans held a surprise YouTube livestream where they issued an ultimatum to HYBE, demanding that Min Hee Jin be reinstated as CEO.
On November 13, NewJeans sent a letter to ADOR stating that they would terminate their exclusive contracts if the major violations were not resolved within two weeks.
