Sung Yuri's Husband Ahn Sung Hyun Faces 7 Years in Prison for Fraud, Conspiracy

The husband of popular actress and singer Sung Yuri, Ahn Sung Hyun , is currently facing a 7-year prison sentence for fraud and conspiracy charges in connection with the IPO of a virtual currency.
Reports on October 31 indicated that the prosecutor requested a 7-year sentence for Ahn Sung Hyun at the sentencing hearing held on the 29th at the Seoul Southern District Court. In addition, a fine of 2 billion won (approximately $1.5 million), confiscation of two luxury watches, and a surcharge of 1.5 billion won (approximately $1.1 million) were requested.
Lee Sang Jun , former CEO of Bithumb Holdings , who was also indicted, faces a 5-year prison sentence, confiscation of 30.5 million won (about $22,800), and a surcharge of 1.525 billion won (about $1.1 million). Ahn Sung Hyun and the former CEO are accused of receiving tens of billions of won from businessman Kang Jong Hyun between September and November 2021 in exchange for helping list the "A" currency on the Bithumb exchange.
According to prosecutors, the two received 3 billion won (about $2.2 million) in cash, two luxury watches valued at 400 million won (about $300,000), and a membership card for a high-end restaurant valued at 11.5 million won (about $8,500) from Kang and Song, an official at the currency-issuing company.
In addition, Ahn Sung Hyun is also accused of deceiving Kang by claiming that Lee had urgently requested a payment of 2 billion won (approximately $1.5 million) for the listing, which led him to embezzle an additional 2 billion won. Ahn Sung Hyun and Lee were indicted without arrest on September 8 last year. The verdict will be announced on December 26.
Meanwhile, Ahn Sung Hyun, who debuted as a professional golfer in 2005, married actress Sung Yuri, a member of the group Fin.KL, in 2017. They have twin daughters together.
