The Story of K-pop's Minimest Girl Band

Before debuting, Sihyeon was a part of Season 1 of the MNET survival show Produce 101 . She competed as an individual trainee before signing with Yuehua and placed 40th. Meanwhile, Sihyeon stated that she wanted to improve, which led her to participate in Season 3 as well.

In the 3rd season, Yuehua trainees Choi Ye-na, Wang Yiren, and Kim Si-hyeon all participated in Produce 48. The girls performed American group Little Mix's song "Move" . Meanwhile, Sihyeon placed 27th with Yiren where they were both eliminated in Episode 11 of the 3rd Elimination.

On February 18, 2019, Chinese entertainment agency Yuehua announced that they would be launching a six-member girl group called “Everglow.” The group immediately caught the attention of Sihyeon and Yiren, who were both former contestants. from Produce 48, as well as Onda, who was a former member of Idol School. This was the second time the agency ventured into K-pop, first with hit girl group WJSN (Cosmic Girls) and then with Everglow.
